When you truly love a person, there is no need to go all the way out to prove to the world that you do.
Doing otherwise will only start an extremist relationship that has no firm foundation whatsoever.
Driven by fears, unrealistic expectations of each other, unhealthy dependency on other people's expectations for their relationship, "secret liaisons", and enslaving themselves to their egos, the persons involved will be so busy trying to prove to each other and the rest of the world how perfect they are for each other, the element of falseness seeps in and becomes the brittle foundation of that relationship. And the relationship will break in a hard way much later, if not now.
I am not against sincere and honest expressions of love from either party.
I am merely trying to drive home the point that it takes time, patience, acceptance, consideration for each other, and sincere hard work to grow both individually and collectively. So that the elements of a healthy, sincere, caring, honest relationship may be gradually nurtured.
I pray that my relationship with Nic will truly be solid in the Lord, and that we both continue to learn from each other and grow in Him as individuals and as a couple. :)
